Free School Meals For All Is On The Agenda

Dinner LadiesRob has launched a drive to give every primary school pupil in Stoke-on-Trent a daily free school meal.

Since Labour introduced legal nutritional standards for school food, school lunches are now healthier than ever.  But less than half of primary school children sit down for a cooked school meal.  The reasons for not taking up a school lunch vary, but for many families a key concern is the cost.

UK trials have shown that free school meals can raise academic and behavioural standards, whilst reducing obesity and improving health in children generally.  Proper nutrition for young children is absolutely crucial, and giving children good habits at an early age ensures that they carry these into later life.

Rob has invited school cooks and lunchtime staff to afternoon tea to thank them for their efforts and to ask for their support for the Free School Dinners campaign.

Pledge your support for the campaign by contacting Rob's constituency office or sign up using the form at the bottom of this page.
