What MPs can get invovled with
Many people think that their MP is there to solve all their problems; unfortunately this is not the case.

MPs can only help with matters that are dealt with by Parliament or central government and Parliamentary Protocol mean that an MP can only get involved in matters affecting their Constituents.

Some examples of what my office deals with:
Tax Credits; hospitals and the NHS; benefits; pensions and national insurance concerns; immigration; crime and disorder; school closures and grants; CSA; Warmfront Scheme.

What local Councillors can get involved with
Councillors have differing responsibilities to MPs.  Councillors are the public’s representatives on the Council, in our case Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

There are 3 councillors for each of the 20 wards in the City and you can find your Councillor by clicking here.

Councillors are able to deal with issues such as council housing, planning, rubbish collection, the local environment, local education, transport and roads, fire and social services plus libraries.
